Wokingham Ability Partnership believes that:

  • Everyone should be treated with dignity and respect
  • Each individual’s own unique needs and aspirations should be taken into account in such ways that allow them to be included as equal members of the local community
  • People should have real choice in the services they use and where appropriate this should be offered on an individual basis
  • Services should be accessible, not just physically but staff should be knowledgeable and sensitive to people’s needs
  • Everyone should have the opportunity to live in their own home
  • Services should be easy and quick to get and joined up and not need a lot of forms to be filled in
  • People should be able to get meaningful employment at the proper rates of pay
  • People should be able to live healthy lives and have access to local health services
  • People should be able to move about easily at a price that is affordable
  • Carers should be treated as partners in the planning and delivery of services
  • Discrimination will not be tolerated
  • People should have a real say in what they do and what happens to them
  • Services should be more accountable to those who use them
  • Services should be flexible
