Wokingham Employment Support Service - WESS - offers ongoing support into and during employment for people with disabilities, mental health issues, HIV/Aids, substance misuse issues and carers who live in the Wokingham area. Full support and advice Whether you are looking for voluntary or paid work, we can provide one to one support in all aspects of job hunting, on going support throughout employment, access to education and voluntary opportunities and advice on education and training. Access to workshops and job search resources You will have access to our workshops, which include structured sessions that focus on the skills you need to conduct a successful job search. Online job search and newspapers are also available, and our Employment Advisors are there to give you the necessary support and advice that you may need. For some people, returning or entering into work can be extremely daunting and our First Steps New Start programme could set you off in the right direction. The session topics include increasing your self confidence, communicating well, getting motivated, making the most of your time and identifying your skills and abilities. Guidance about the Disability Discrimination Act We provide support and guidance to employers with regard to the Disability Discrimination Act and give guidance on making a reasonable adjustment for a potential or current employee.
